Did I mention Bear Viewing?
Our Bear viewing is 2nd to none. Tour the Katmai wilderness which has one of the largest Brown Bear Populations in the world. We travel daily to Brooks Camp and the world famous Brooks Falls, where you can view these wild and majestic animals as they go about their summer ritual of catching salmon. This location should be at the top of every photographer's and wildlife enthusiasts bucket list. Brooks Falls is ground zero for that iconic shot of a bear catching a jumping salmon in mid-air that you've seen in photographs and TV since you were just a child.
Valley of Ten Thousand Smokes bus tour
This tour begins in the heart of Katmai National Park on the banks of the Brooks River. You will board an off-road bus tour lead by a Katmai Park ranger and proceed to travel through the park, across Margot Creek and up to the famous Valley of Ten Thousand Smokes, where you will hike into the river canyon through the hundreds of feet of ash left by the largest volcanic eruption in recent history. The trip includes lunch and some amazing scenery.
World Class Guided Fishing
Bristol Bay hosts some of the last great truly Wild Salmon runs on the planet with up to 60 million Sockeye returning each year to the bay to spawn. This fishery is still breaking records year after year. The sockeye enter our rivers in June and take over our systems until September. Along side the Sockeye, we also have opportunities for the other 4 strains of Pacific salmon; Kings being the most sought after, with Chums, Pinks and the acrobatic Silvers providing fast action as well. Of course, the resident Rainbow Trout, Grayling, and Arctic Char can be found all Spring, Summer, and Fall and have a field day feeding on the millions of eggs being dropped by the salmon. There is always great fishing opportunities in Bristol Bay for both the beginner and the expert angler.
If Fishing or Photography is not really your thing do not worry because there is always more to do. Flights over remote wilderness in bush planes to view Mountains, Moraines, and Rivers, you might just experience the most beautiful views of your life. If you prefer to raft or kayak through Alaska's Famous Naknek river Counting Eagles and Brown Bears, we have you covered. Or maybe your into hiking? We can hike up to the top of Dumpling Mountain or trek deep into The Valley of 10,000 Smokes which is home of the 2nd Largest volcanic eruption in recorded history.
Of course, if your idea of a perfect get-a-way is to eat a great meal and then snuggle into a comfortable chair with a great book or an amazing view, you will love our riverfront log lodge with its wall of glass overlooking the river, its large outdoor deck and our comfortable chairs and the delicious meals whipped up by our chef every evening.
